1.

How do I get married in Washington State?

First you will need to obtain your Washington State Marriage License packet. You can obtain your marriage license in any County in Washington. Here is the link: WA State Marriage License

Some info about obtaining your license:

You will need a legal photo ID or Passport to apply. If you are walking in to apply you will receive your packet at the time of applying. There is a 3 day waiting period in Washington before the license is valid. Your marriage license will expire in 60 days.

If you are from out of state or out of the country, you do not need to be in Washington to apply. You can apply online at WA State Marriage License and have it mailed to you. Alternately, you can pick it up when you arrive in Washington State at the Marriage License office in King County.

How do I get married at Shotgun Ceremonies Wedding Chapel?

When you are ready to make an appointment, please give us a call at 206-372-3349.

We are available to take your call between the hours of 10AM - 8PM daily. Please leave us a message if we don't answer and we will call you back as soon as we can.

We require a $100 non refundable deposit when you book your wedding and the balance is due when you come in to get married. We will ask you a few questions over the phone and then you are all set. After your wedding is booked, we will send you an email containing a confirmation of your wedding date and time along with how to pay the deposit information. We accept Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle to make your deposit (the balance can also be paid with all major credit cards, in person.) Our deposit is non refundable but can be exchanged for a different date. If no call no show, you cannot exchange your deposit.

5.

7.

What happens if we need to cancel or change the date of our wedding?

The $100 deposit is non-refundable but can be applied to a new date with a 24 hour advanced notice. One date change only. We understand life can have some unforeseen situations and we will do our best to accommodate you. You can also gift your deposit to someone else's wedding or vow renewal if desired. The deposit is not transferable, refundable or exchangeable if the couple is no call/no show. Please call in advance to reschedule your wedding.

9.

What if I want to get ready there?

We do have a little dressing room trailer where you are more than welcome to come in and change. We recommend doing makeup and hair off-site, prior to arriving.

11.

Is the ceremony religious?

We do not have anything religious in our ceremony, however we respect all religions. If you would like to add something that celebrates your beliefs, we are more than happy to include it in our ceremony.

13.

We want to get married Off-Site at a different location. Can we do that?

Of course. We charge $375, unless we have to travel 10 or more miles outside of Seattle, which in that case we add an additional charge for travel time/expenses (Please call us for a quote). Seattle has great parks and fun landmarks to elope at. We love a spontaneous elopement at your favorite Seattle destination spot!

2.

Do I need witnesses to get married in Washington State?

Yes, you need two witnesses to get married in Washington State. Shotgun Ceremonies can provide witnesses for you and there is no additional cost for that service.

4.

Can I come in to your Wedding Chapel to pay my deposit and ask questions?

Yes absolutely. We are by appointment only, so please call ahead to schedule a time to come by. We are not always in our Wedding Chapel or we are performing a wedding so we might miss you if you drop by.

6.

How much notice do I need to set an appointment to get married?

We usually can perform weddings same day if given two or three hours notice but can't 100% guarantee our availability. We recommend at least a day or two prior to booking a last minute wedding.  Most couples like to plan ahead. We always suggest, if you have a specific date in mind, to go ahead and reserve your date as soon as you are ready. Typically we have couples that reserve their date 1 day to 3 months before they get married. We are currently allowing reservations up to 3 months in advance.

8.

What if we don't want to see each other before we get married?

If you are arriving separately, we have a little trailer where we can have one of you wait in to surprise your fiancé' when the ceremony starts.

10.

What can I expect during the ceremony?

We have a very fun, unique, and simple ceremony. First we will ask you a few questions during the ceremony so you will get to share your love story, impromptu. We then give you an opportunity to say something to one another, if you like, but you don't have to (your wedding is reflective of you, so if you want to say something or not, that is fine). Afterwards are the "I Do's" (vow section) followed by a ring exchange (if you have rings). Then we finalize the ceremony. We can add anything you would like or delete any part of the ceremony. Remember it's your day, we want you to enjoy it!
