If your person is being held at Seattle City Jail, the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, or the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Bronwen can come to you and perform a legal wedding ceremony on-site. No courthouse. No waiting. Just a real, legal marriage performed where you are.

Seattle City Jail | Seattle, WA
Clearance is handled by giving the facility advance notice. The process is relatively straightforward, but ceremonies are conducted behind glass.

Maleng Regional Justice Center (RJC)
The RJC is located at: 620 W James St, Kent, WA. Same general process as Seattle City Jail. Contact us before booking so we can be sure you’ve coordinated timing and access.

Northwest ICE Processing Center
NW ICE is located at: 623 E J St, Tacoma, WA. This one is a different experience entirely. Both ICE and the GEO Group (the facility operator) need to approve the ceremony in advance, and guests and the bride or groom need to be on a cleared guest list. The process takes time, sometimes several months, so early planning matters here.* The upside? The ICE facility is the best of the three for an actual wedding. Couples get a private room together. It feels like a real ceremony, not a visitation.

Because the clearance process at the Northwest ICE Processing Center can take four to five months, the most important thing you can do is start early and work through an immigration attorney if you have one. We're happy to work with your attorneys or legal advocate to get the process moving. If you don't have an attorney, reach out anyway. We can point you toward next steps.
PRICING
On-site jail and detention ceremonies are $400. That's $100 off our standard rate because we believe this service should be as accessible as possible for couples navigating an already hard situation.
WHAT YOU NEED
A valid Washington State marriage license and an approved appointment with the appropriate detainment facility. If you're not sure how to get a marriage license or whether you can obtain one given your circumstances, the King County Recorder's Office can answer those questions. We can also point you in the right direction if you reach out first.

Reach out before booking so we can confirm availability and ensure you have everything in place. This one requires a little more lead time than a chapel ceremony, so the sooner you contact us the better.
A Note on Facility Access
Policies at detention facilities and jails can change quickly and sometimes without notice. Before you book your ceremony, reach out so we can confirm that you have spoken with the facility about current access requirements. Shotgun Ceremonies has performed ceremonies at all three of these locations but we cannot guarantee that facility policies haven't shifted since the last visit.
